Enjoyed our overdue visit to Grandad McIntire’s gravesite and reconnecting with our McIntire relatives in the Breckenridge area. Was a pleasant day for a drive. We got a look at some of the country we usually do not see, even if mostly through a car window. We will have to make trips like this far more often.

our route

I do not usually eat before noon but stopping for breakfast at Sissy’s turned out to be a treat. It appeared to be dive from the outside and the patrons loitering outside could have been best described as a bit shady. The food had to be quite good to keep it in business. The combination of tasty food and friendly service made for a pleasant experience. Still marveling at the size of your pancake. When we go that way again, we will go for lunch and have the pecan pie cake.

After visiting the cemetery and driving around town, I am glad we ventured toward Cisco in search of the present home of McIntire Saddlery. Enjoyed sitting outside the shop and visiting with cousins Ron and Miranda. I think they would be 2nd and 3rd cousins for you and 1st cousin twice removed and 2nd cousin once removed for me. But not too sure this is exactly correct; after 1st cousin, I start getting confused. Whatever the cousin's status it was a good visit. I will stay in touch and arrange another trip so they know we are coming, and we can meet more of the family.

I am amused that Ron referred to Great Granddad Bill as Uncle Billy and that he had goats. Wonder if he would have been just Uncle Bill if he had not had goats. Glad we got to see Uncle Walter’s house. Although it has been decades since you were there I wonder if the outside is pretty much as you remember.

Beau told me about the Polo Matches held on a ranch near Breckenridge. He remembers them from when he lived as a teen on a ranch somewhere around Seymour. We will have to ask the family about them.

Maybe some of the Breckenridge McIntires can visit here sometime. It would be fun to take them around Nemo, Glen Rose, Paluxy, and Tolar to find their long-ago relatives.

Good road trip. Let us try to do this every week or two.
